Anurita Rathore is a senior journalist and media professional, with an experience that spans two decades. Alongwith her flair for writing, she is engaged with several creative initiatives in arts, literature and lifestyle. To her credit, she conceived and organised Gujarat's first ever Art Show-Charity Auction in 2014. She is also a visiting faculty at PDPU and Anand Niketan School besides taking special guest lectures at various academic institutions.
Anurita began her career with The Indian Express, Ahmedabad, in 1996, and began looking after the children's supplement Roller Coaster. Soon, she was in charge of the Features section where besides getting stories in place, she contributed to the Sunday Eye as well as the Edit page. From writing about latest happenings, festivals and issues that give the city of Ahmedabad and Gujarat its character, to celebrating people who stand out in a crowd and interviewing celebrities and experts, she ensured the written word gave people the joy to relate to all that they read.
A decade later, ended her illustrious stint at The Indian Express in 2007 to join 94.3 MY FM, Synergy Media Entertainment Ltd., in Ahmedabad as its Programming Head. She was in-charge of the sound of the radio station, creating properties that enhanced listener-connect, preparing Radio Jockeys and monitoring daily content that eventually led the station to being among the top three in the city in its first year.
A year down the line she joined Ahmedabad Mirror (Times of India) as Features Editor, in 2008, where besides leading the Features team and churning out interesting and informative features, she was also conceptualising and executing a variety of reader-friendly workshops to strengthen readership-base. As Features Editor of the paper, she was instrumental in introducing ‘The Ahmedabad Mirror Art Show’ - a unique, one-of-a-kind art show where the city’s art fraternity participated.
Anurita has also written for India Today and is currently doing a special column for creativeyatra.com that carries written as well as video interviews with well-known artistes.
