Wangthoi Khuman
 
Wangthoi Khuman is the pen-name of Laishram Amarjit Singh who is a young
poet from Manipur. Born on 5th March 1986, he is the eldest son of Laishram
Ningthemba Singh and Laishram Thoibi Devi of Thanga Tongbram Leikai in
Bishnupur district of Manipur. He mainly writes poems in Manipuri. He also
writes short stories and articles. He was the first President of Sahitya Thoupang
Lup, a literary organization for the young writers. Other than that, he is also the
founder member of Loktak Khorjei Lup. He has contributed two books of
poetry in his credit namely Ngayonba Asheiba (Poetry, 2012) and Meina Waai
Taangna Sham (Poetry, 2016). For the first book, he has bagged “Arambam
Ibungohal and Binodkumari Literary Award, 2013” from the Patriotic Writers
Forum, Manipur and “Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar, 2014”. He has been an
editor/ joint editor of the anthology like Loktak Seitha Sheireng and the literary
journals like Loktakkhol and Saklon. He is presently working in the area of
folklore as part of his PhD in the department of English and Cultural Studies,
